Nikki Garcia and Artem Chigvintsev have officially settled their divorce, three months after the former Dancing with the Stars pro’s domestic violence arrest. According to a statement from Garcia’s representative to Us Weekly on November 20, the pair will not proceed to court. “Nikki and Artem have settled their divorce and will not be going to court,” the statement read. “Both parties decided to drop the domestic violence restraining orders against each other in an effort to move on with their lives and effectively co-parent their son.”
Chigvintsev, 42, was arrested in August in Napa, California, following an alleged domestic altercation with Garcia, 40. He faced felony domestic violence charges but was released on bail the same day. In September, after a review of the case, the charges were dismissed. Chigvintsev expressed relief in a statement shared on Instagram, saying, “I am incredibly relieved and grateful that the domestic violence charges against me have been dropped. This has been an extremely difficult time for me. I am thankful that the truth has prevailed.”
Both Garcia and Chigvintsev filed for restraining orders following the incident, with Garcia detailing alleged physical altercations in court documents. In a statement at the time, her representative said, “Nikki’s number one priority has always been her son and privacy on the matter.”
The couple, who share a 4-year-old son, Matteo, have now resolved their differences to prioritize co-parenting. Garcia thanked supporters during this challenging period and reiterated her focus on her child’s wellbeing.
