On Ryan Reynolds‘ birthday, Hugh Jackman is celebrating the woman of the moment — Reynolds’ mother, Tammy.
As Reynolds marked his 48th birthday on Wednesday, Oct. 23, Jackman, 56, shared a series of photos of him with his longtime friend and Deadpool & Wolverine costar to Instagram. “On this day we celebrate Tammy … for delivering Ryan. 🎂 🎉 🎈,” the actor captioned his post, which featured images of the pair in behind-the-scenes moments from their recent superhero movie and embracing their director, Shawn Levy, among other snapshots of the duo.
Reynolds’ birthday comes just 11 days after Jackman himself celebrated his birthday on Oct. 12.
The pair celebrated their shared birthday month in a photo that filmmaker Levy, 56, shared to Instagram on Oct. 7, in which both Reynolds and Jackman held a large cake adorned with flowers. “October is the best month for buddy birthdays🎂 A perfect fall day celebrating early with two of the BEST❤️💛,” Levy wrote in a caption to his photo at that time.Reynolds himself also went on Instagram to wish Jackman a happy birthday, sharing photos of the pair together over the years and referenced a joke from Deadpool & Wolverine regarding Jackman’s decades-long run on the big screen as the X-Men superhero Wolverine. “I hope we get to do this til we’re 90,” Reynolds wrote in that caption. “Happy Birthday, @thehughjackman A lot of years. “A lot of adventures.”
Reynolds and Jackman, who famously met when they first costarred in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, have had a consistent presence on social media in the months since Deadpool & Wolverine was released in theaters on July 26 and has since become one of the highest-grossing movies of 2024.

“We rely on each other for the real kind of advice that you want,” Reynolds told PEOPLE of their friendship back in May, as the duo interviewed each other for PEOPLE’s cover story.
“There’s probably fewer friends in our life that you can say anything to, the stuff you’re ashamed, embarrassed, anything,” Jackman added. “And ever since I’ve known you, and I would say in particular in like the last five, 10 years, we’ve had more time where we go for our walks because you’re an unbelievable listener.”
