Daniel Jones has seemingly started his last game for the New York Giants.
The Giants benched Jones on Monday and are expected to turn to Tommy DeVito under center after New York’s 2-8 start to the year. In 10 games, Jones threw for 2,070 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions, posting a quarterback rating of 46.8.
He led them to just one playoff appearance in his six seasons as the Giants’ starter.
Unfortunately, Jones has been plagued by injuries in recent years. He played just six games last season after suffering a neck injury in October and a season-ending ACL tear in November.
With Jones now New York’s No. 3 QB, the Giants will likely give the job back to DeVito after he played nine games and had 1,101 passing yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions a year ago. They also have Drew Lock as an option under center.
As for what’s next for Jones, here’s a look at some possible trade destinations for Jones this offseason.
Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are an easy choice for Jones given their current quarterback situation.
Former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young has struggled but retained the starting job in Carolina. Behind him sits veteran Andy Dalton, who will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2024 season.
If Dalton walks in free agency, the Panthers will need to find a replacement and Jones could be just that.
Carolina would also give Jones the chance to potentially earn a starting job sooner rather than later given the fact that the Panthers haven’t hesitated to move Young to the bench this season.
Jones is also a Charlotte native. Being back home would allow him to reset after a few shaky years. There’s also not much pressure to win in Carolina, which would take a lot of stress off Jones and allow him to regain his confidence.
Minnesota Vikings

Sam Darnold has been solid as the Minnesota Vikings starter this season, but his return in 2025 isn’t promised.
He’ll be a free agent this offseason and will likely field a handful of offers given his play this year. Besides, the Vikings will likely want to turn to first-round pick J.J. McCarthy under center anyway.
That would open up a spot for Jones to come in and be the Vikings QB2 behind McCarthy. Going to Minnesota also wouldn’t close the door on Jones being a starter. If McCarthy struggles early on, the Vikings could turn to an experienced player like Jones and allow McCarthy to play behind him as he develops.

Speaking of teams with one young quarterback and one veteran, the Colts will likely have a QB2 spot open this offseason.
Anthony Richardson, who lost the starting job and recently earned it back, is seemingly the quarterback of the future for the Colts, but sitting behind him is 39-year-old Joe Flacco, who will be a free agent this offseason.
If Flacco doesn’t return next season, the Colts would need a solid backup in case Richardson starts struggling again or has another injury. Just like Carolina and Minnesota, joining the Colts would give Jones a realistic chance of competing for a QB1 spot.
Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers currently have two starting-caliber quarterbacks who are set to hit free agency this offseason.
Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are both on expiring contracts, and it seems inevitable that one of them will walk. Fields was the starter early on this season and had plenty of success, but the Steelers turned to Wilson once he returned from injury.
Assuming Pittsburgh sticks with Wilson as QB1 next season, Fields will likely test the free agency waters and try to find a place where he can be a starter.
That would open up a spot as the Steelers QB2, and Jones could fill that void.
