“When people call me a role model, it scares me, because it feels like I’m destined to be unlucky, to fail, and no role model is perfect from start to finish.”
Recently, actress Emma Watson (27 years old) of the animated film “Beauty and The Beast” (Beauty and the Beast) – accepted an interview with Interview magazine and appeared in an impressive photo series for the May issue. The interview was conducted over the phone in a rather special setting. When asked where she was, Emma Watson revealed that she was soaking in a bathtub: “I was very surprised when asked about this detail, I don’t want things to be weird, but honestly, I was soaking in a bathtub in Paris and receiving an interview call from you guys. I don’t want people to notice the sound of the water and wonder what I’m doing.”
Emma Watson’s childhood has been associated with fame, the audience has witnessed her growing up on screen since her first appearance in the “Harry Potter” series in 2001. Currently, despite having a successful career and a perfect beautiful image in the public eye, what Emma Watson fears most is people calling her a “role model”.
In an interview, Emma Watson said: “When people call me a role model, it makes me feel scared, because I feel like my fate will be unlucky, I will fail, no role model is perfect from beginning to end”.
Emma Watson confided: “I was just a child when I first appeared in the Harry Potter series, since then, everything that happened to me has become an interesting story for readers. My life has always been a subject of public interest, that’s why I always want to have privacy.
“When I play a character, the audience needs to forget about me in real life, they need to forget about Emma Watson, so that they only care about the girl I play. How to keep people from knowing every detail of my life is what I’m trying to do, to protect my ability to play the role.”
Speaking about her choice of roles, Emma says: “People sometimes talk about me as a brand, with a clear career strategy. I wish I had a strategy for my life and career. But so far, I do everything on instinct.”
Behind the huge pressure from public expectations, Emma also finds ways to relax: “I bake. I’m really good at making chocolate banana bread. People can’t believe how good it is. I also play with my cat.”
