Chicago Sky superstar Angel Reese told fans online to relax after a clip with rap star DDG went viral, and prompted questions about her relationship status.
Darryl Dwayne Granberry, who goes by the name DDG, has led a varied digital career as he made YouTube vlogs after graduating school in 2015, and parlayed that budding popularity into a rap career. He even fought in the YouTubers vs Tiktokers boxing event, beating Nate Wyatt by decision in 2021.
On Saturday, a 12-second clip he posted on social media had generated 8.8 million views on X alone. In the clip, he can be heard miming to his latest hit, What U Bad For, while Reese poses in the same frame.
Its literally a TikTok, relax, she said recently on X.
It followed a post earlier in the month in which she said she understands why people hide relationships and keep everything private. Reese added: Like, I dont think Ill ever openly share that part of my life with yall again until Im married because yall do the most!
Reese was once-linked to Jalen Duren, a 21-year-old center for the Detroit Pistons. However, since their split, she said in recent months on her podcast Unapologetically Angel, that she is single.
DDG, who is listed as 5-foot-9 on his boxing record, may not fit with Reeses type as she said on the same podcast that any romantic partner would need to be taller than she is, as she stands at 6-foot-3. Hes got to be tall, said Reese. 6-foot-7, 6-foot-8 [and, ideally, an] NBA player.
More recently, she shut down a podcast guest after YouTube comedian Funny Marco implied that she was flirting with him. I dont do short kings, she told him. Sorry.
Angel Reese was part of one of the most anticipated WNBA drafts in history, and joined Sky from LSU womens basketball where she starred as the Most Outstanding Player of the 2023 NCAA tournament. Though her 2024 rookie season ended with a wrist injury, she still set the league ablaze with an average of 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game on average.
Her 13.1 rebounds per game average in 2024 set a WNBA single-season record, as did her 446 total rebounds from 34 games. She also posted an extraordinary 15 consecutive double-doubles in 2024, and became the first rookie to return a double-double (12 points and 11 rebounds) in the WNBA All-Star Game.
